Why Swap Skills?
Swapping skills has become an increasingly popular pastime recently. Swapping skills means that you can use your spare time to do someone a favour and get something back other than money back in return. Swapping skills is incredibly rewarding - it is about giving as well as receiving and the satisfaction you gain from it will make you want to do it again and again.
How Do I Swap My Skills?
Firstly, make sure that you have registered some skills yourself - either offered or required. Next, search for people are either offering the skills you are looking for or a looking for the skills you have. Then, make contact with them through the site's confidential messaging system. Once you have built up a trusting relationship with each other and agreed how and when you are going to assist each other, you team up together and swap your skills. Remember to be sure of someone's identity before agreeing to meet them and never meet anyone that you have any doubt about whatsoever.
What Does It Cost Me?
Nothing! TeamUpHere is FREE to use. There are additional features on the site that you can update your profile to use for which you will be required to make a charitable donation.
How Do I Register?
Registration is by 2 very simple steps. Step 1 asks you for your Personal information such as Name, Email Address and location. Step 2 simply asks you to confirm your details. You can develop your profile by telling people what you do, brighten up your profile with up to five pictures and list anything that you feel will enhance your profile once you have clicked the link on your activation email.
How Do I Activate My Profile?
When you register, we send you an Activation email - simply click on the link in that email (or copy 'n' paste the url into your web browser) and your profile will be activated. If you have lost your email with the link to activate your profile, please click here to have the email sent again. Please check your Junk mail or Spam filter, as it may have ended up in there!
How Do I Find a Skill?
That's easy. You can search by category or location drop-down menus or simply browse through the profiles (by leaving the drop-down menus blank) to see what skills are on offer to swap.
How Do I Find a Specific User?
Click on the 'Search For Skills' tab. You can either do a search under a specific category or you can type the username into the 'Keywords' box.
Can I Change My Profile?
Of course! Hopefully you will need to change your profile often, because that will mean that you are using the site, swapping skills and making lots of new contacts. You can edit your profile as many times as you want, add pictures or change text. If you move home, you can change your location or if you develop a new skill you can change that as well. The site will automatically place you in the correct category to ensure that you are easy to find.
How Do I Make Contact?
There are a couple of ways you can do this. We recommend that you do it through TeamUpHere's own confidential messaging system. Once you have built a trust between each other, you could then communicate by email or phone. Remember to be sure of someone's identity before agreeing to meet them to swap skills and never meet anyone that you have any doubt about whatsoever. Who Decides What a Skill is Worth?
Well, all parties do. That's what TeamUpHere is all about - no set exchange rates, no payment with tokens or points, no price rises or "special" offers - it is about 2 or more parties coming up with an agreement that suits all. Your time is a good way to indicate whether swap is fare - if each party is giving equal time, then that might suit everyone involved.
Do I Have To Be An Expert To Swap Skills?
No, you may simply enjoy doing something or do it as a hobby. However, you must be honest about your level of expertise and make sure that you tell people who wish to swap skills with you.
